Behind the Brand: Castilleja Cowgirl
Definition of Castilleja
: a large genus of root-parasitic herbs (family Scrophulariaceae) abundant in western North America and characterized by irregular hooded flowers in dense spikes usually with brightly colored bracts— see indian paintbrush
I’ve always had an affinity for those small red wildflowers that grew in our back pasture. I would always tell my parents that those were my favorite flowers. One summer, we sprayed for weeds, and that was the end of most of the plants that once grew on our property. Occasionally, I’d slip through the fence to our neighbor’s pasture and pick a few flowers and bring them home. These are just some of my earliest memories of my love for the Indian Paintbrush flowers. Fast forward to college, where I attended the University of Wyoming for four years where I also found out that my favorite flower happens also to be Wyoming’s state flower. I knew I liked this state... I also firmly believe that everything happens by design and this was just another sign that this brand was meant to be.
I’ve always loved the western lifestyle and my photography reflects that. From ranch rodeos to pro rodeos, cowboy engagements to family photos, brandings to western boudoir, horse sale photos, and more... I want to capture the beauty of the western lifestyle and cowboy spirit!

What I offer:
Book with me:
To be totally honest with you, it has taken some time for me to get used to calling myself a photographer, and I'll tell you why. I am self taught. No photography school or life-long mentor. At first, I felt like a fraud, even though many loved my work and would book me for their events. But there came a time where I had to realize that many successful people were also self taught. The difference? They learned how to believe in themselves. So I stopped the negative self talk and started to believe in the work that I do. This kind of thinking has got me to where I am at now.
I believe you are never done learning and I am excited to see where I am taken next on this journey. With me, each project is different, and each client is unique in their needs.
